The content aired on television is not free. It takes money to make TV Series, Movies, Documentaries, etc. Money, which pays for the actors, writers and producers who make TV content. This is why these artists charge TV channels for the right to air this content. In reality, TV channels pay to include this content in their TV channels/packages. These fees are called copyright fees.
The subscription fee paid by customers are used to pay for various things like copyright fees, day-to-day network costs (maintenance and upgrading) and other operational costs.
TV Piracy means that TV Channels get lower margins to cover the day-to-day costs of running a television network. Thus, accessing content by illicit means is therefore denying both content and platform providers a return on their economic goods and is therefore equaled to theft.
