Abu Khalil Al Qabbani

Abu Khalil develops his theater and plays which even deal with the Urabi Revolt which outrages the English leading them to burn down his theater. Consequently, Abu Khalil sadly returns to Sham, where he continues his life away from art.

Abu Khalil buys a new house in Sham to keep his family away from the neighborhood. Later, he returns to Egypt, and accepts the participation of girls in his plays, although that the English press, who feared his influence on the people, started harassing him.

The English support Iskandar to stage his own play, and they gather some actors for him aiming to fight Abu Khalil. Meanwhile, in the levant, Abdallah and Mosleh distribute anti-Ottoman pamphlets.

Abu Khalil travels with his troupe to Chicago to present his plays there, and then heads back to Sham. On the other hand, Yamama's sister dies, as well as Sheikh Said, and Abu Khalil returns to Egypt.

We learn about the upbringing of Abu Khalil Al Qabbani, and his father, Mohammad Agha. Abu Khalil was known for his intelligence and fondness for music from a young age, especially his love for the rebab music instrument, which helped him recover from an illness he had.

As Abu Khalil was growing up, his uncle Abdallah was living alone after he had a fight with Mohammad Agha. Nevertheless, this quarrel did not prevent the uncle from teaching Abu Khalil singing and different types of music.

Noura is still single, and suffers from psychological problems. As for Abu Khalil, he accepts the offer to sing in the casino, which angers his father and Sheikh Salim, who expels him from the mosque and prevents him from the religious teachings.

Abdallah gets married and Abu Khalil doesn't attend the wedding as he moves to Aleppo to study the art of singing at Sheikh Ahmad Akil, which angers Sheikh Salim. Noura is still sick, while Abdallah and Nemer go to Aleppo searching for Abu Khalil.

Abu Khalil advances in his studies, but his father's sickness forces him to return to Sham where he indulges himself in attending comedy plays, and starts criticizing their subjects. Noura, also tries to attend those plays, but her mother forbids her.

Noura's love for acting drives her to flee with the theater director to Beirut, which angers Sheikh Salim, who rushes looking for her with her mother. Abu Khalil persuades Sheikh Akil to move to Sham with his troupe, while Nemer leaves for Beirut with the English envoy.

The governor sends an investigation team to Beirut to search for Iskandar who is helping Noura to hide. As for Abu Khalil, he is busy writing comedy plays, and also presents a dance concert in collaboration with Sheikh Ahmad Akil, which angers his father.

A rumor of Abu Khalil's imprisonment based on charges of singing and dancing hits the Agha like a thunderbolt. As for Abu Khalil, he abandons singing as he promised his mother to return to Al Azhar to pursue his religion studies.

After finishing his studies at Al Azhar, Abu Khalil decides to stay in Sham, devoting himself to singing, while he receives an offer from the governor. Yamama visits Abu Khalil's house, where he admires her voice, as well as his mother, who decides to marry them off.

Abu Khalil begins working on his first play. Although he does not stop thinking about Yamama, he decides to postpone the engagement and devotes himself to theatrical work with the help of Sheikh Ahmad Akil.

Abu Khalil got engaged to Yamama, while he is busy preparing for his play. As for Sheikh Salim, he is occupied in fighting the corruption in Sham.

Sheikh Said asks Sheikh Salim to help him fight corruption and remove Sobhi Pasha from power. Noura and Salim are heading to Egypt to get into the world of acting. Meanwhile, Abboud and Signora plot to defraud the Agha.

Everyone admires Abu Khalil's play, while Yamama's family is upset about his continuous postponement of the wedding. Signora, in collaboration with Abboud, takes possession of the Agha's Casino. As for Sheikhs Salim and Said, they are angry at Abu Khalil's plays.

The Sultan transfers Sobhi Pasha from Sham, hence, Sheikhs Salim and Said, along with their associates, scheme to ban Abu Khalil's plays. As for Noura, she begins acting in Egypt, and Khedive Ismail invites her to perform with her troupe at the opera house.

At the instigation of Sheikh Said, Abboud prepares insulting cheers for Abu Khalil, so the children of the neighborhood could repeat. Noura and her troupe accepts the invitation of the Khedive, who admires her, which makes his wife jealous, and threatens to kill Noura.

Sheikhs Said and Salim are angry because of Pasha Medhat's amendments. After Abu Khalil and Yamama's wedding, they go on a long journey, which leads to the bankruptcy of the troupe. Meanwhile, Abu Khalil's mother dies. As for Salim, he returns to Beirut.

The Pasha invites Abu Khalil to go on a trip to Syria with Sheikh Mohammad Al Qasemi. Hence, the three agree to rehabilitate the people of Sham. As for Noura, she is planning to escape from Egypt with Abdo's help.

Abu Khalil was busy in preparing his new play, which was greatly admired by the audience and the governor. As for Noura, she disguises herself as a man and Abdo helps her find an acting opportunity. On the other hand, Abboud is sad after Signora left him.

The Pasha is impressed by Abu Khalil's play. As for Abboud, he became ill, especially after Signora divorced him. Sheikh Said writes to the Sultan to incite him to the Pasha's reformations. Meanwhile, Noura returns to Sham with Abdo.

Signora wins back the ownership of the casino after giving it to Abboud. On the other hand, Abu Khalil had a baby girl. As for Mosleh, the Pasha's guard, he reveals the coup plot against Medhat Pasha, which Sheikh Said and Asaad are preparing with the Sultan's approval.

The conspiracy against the Pasha continues. As for Abboud, he refrains from harassing Abu Khalil, who is still preoccupied with the theater and is neglecting his family. After arriving to Sham, Abdo and Noura meet Abu Khalil, and Noura sees her mother.

Sheikhs Said and Salim are happy to dismiss the Pasha from his position and try to cancel Abu Khalil's plays, as Abboud conspires with them in exchange for money. Meanwhile, Noura takes a part in Abu Khalil plays, who is fascinated by her performance.

Abdo leaves for Egypt. Sheikh Said returns, after visiting the Sultan, carrying out an order concerning the theater. At night, a disaster strikes the theatre while Nour Al Sabah is on the scene. Concurrently, Sheikh Ahmad goes to Homs to establish a school there.

In Egypt, Abdo encounters the Syrian businessman Saad who asks to accompany him to Syria in order to meet Abu Khalil. They both head on to Syria and return with Abu Khalil, Abboud, and the theatre troupe to Egypt, where they start preparing and performing plays.

Abu Khalil shows his plays in Egypt, and the Khedive admires his work and offers him the opportunity to present the plays at the Opera House for a month. Yamama becomes ill, and Abu Khalil returns to Sham as soon as he learns the news.
