Bird Box had taken the Internet by storm when it was amongst the latest horror movies released last year...

But despite high reviews, many horror movie fanatics agree that it’s not the best scary movie out there.

Bird Box, based on a 2015 novel, became an Internet sensation with an impressive line-up of cast, starring Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes, lil Rel Howery, John Malkovich, Jacki Weaver, Machine Gun Kelly as the top playing characters.

Released in 2018, this American thriller horror movie with post-apocalyptic insinuations follows the story of Malorie (played by Sandra Bullock) as she tackles different situations in her life, including welcoming her two children – a boy and a girl - into the world.

Little did she know that an ominous unknown creature and force is taking the lives of everyone around her once contact is made - these supernatural entities force people to make eye contact with them and drive them to suicide via their biggest fears.

As lives are taken one by one, Sandra, must make it through the forest and river while blindfolded to avoid making contact with the supernatural forces by using blindfolds, bells and connected strings.

The family tries to survive amid chaotic and suspenseful environments…without opening their eyes of course.

But for those adrenaline junkies who can’t get enough of the suspense, drama and thrill-seeking scenes – we’ve got the ultimate list of iconic scary movies that are guaranteed to send chills down your spine.

Especially if Bird Box didn’t satisfy your scary movie cravings.

A Quiet Place

The most recent conversation was started to put an end to the “Bird Box” VS “A Quiet Place” fiasco.

With some saying that A Quiet Place definitely trumps Bird Box and we definitely agree.

Also released last year, A Quiet Place follows the post-apocalyptic horror movie route featuring Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, John Krasinki and more A-list celebrities.

Focused on a world with blind monsters that rely on their hypersensitive hearing and indestructible, armored skin – A Quiet Place, as you may have guessed it, relies on the quiet.

While trying to make it out alive without seeing is tough…trying to make it out alive without making a sound is virtually impossible.

So the family has to start using sign language as a method of communication and they seem to have a grasp on the situation until their youngest son starts to play with a miniature plane toy.

Gripping at every nerve you’ve got, the quietness in this horror films makes it even more earie…

But has us seated at the edge of our seat when Emily Blunt is struggling not to make a sound while she is in labor - could you imagine?!

And then we see the creature crawl up behind her and…don’t worry we won’t spoil it for you.

The Lodgers

Based in Ireland, The Lodgers is a gothic horror movie released in 2017 starring Charlotte Vega, Mill Milner and Eugene Simon as the main characters.

As the story unfolds in the late 1920s, two orphaned characters (Rachel & Edward) that reside in a rural estate are faced with three rules each nighttime: be in bed by midnight, no visitors are welcomed and if any of them attempt to escape then they place the others’ life at stake.

If any of the above rules are broken, then the watery presences, known as the lodgers, will enforce their consequences on the estate inhibitors.

The plot already sounds scary enough but throw in an old-timely based storyline and it had us already thinking it’s based on a true story.

Later down the plot, we find out that the lodgers are a product of a family curse that is there to punish the orphans for their ancestors’ sins.

And the storyline is heightened when a war veteran called Sean (played by Eugene Simon) returns to the village and a love story begins between him and Rachel.

In efforts to live a normal life, Rachel sees Sean as a ticket to escape the curse under the lodgers but it ends in a deadly confrontation.
