Qatayef with Chocolate Cream Filling
Serves: 3 people
Preparation time: 50 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
1 cup, flour
1 cup, warm water
1 teaspoon, sugar
1 tablespoon, yeast
¼ spoon salt
½ cup, fresh cream
3 tablespoons, hazelnut chocolate spread
Ingredients for concentrated syrup:
1 cup, sugar
¾ cup , water
½ lemon, juice extracted
Ingredients for garnish:
Mix all the dough ingredients in a bowl and let it rest for 30 minutes.
When the dough has risen, knead it well to get rid of any air inside.
Now, on medium flame, place a portion of the Qatayef dough on a frying pan, and as soon as it dries, remove from the stove. Note: Do not flip and cook the dough on both sides. Just let it take a light golden color on one side.
Lay out the cooked Qatayef on a tray and cover it with a towel, so the dough does not dry out further, otherwise it would be difficult to shape them.
To shape Qatayef dough for filling, close the round edges of the Qatayef, and leave one side open to add the filling.
Meanwhile, mix all the ingredients of the filling and store it in a plastic bag. Now, let this mixture refrigerate for some time.
On the side, heat a pan on medium flame, add all the ingredients for sugar syrup and let it come to a boil before removing the pan from the stove.
Now, heat oil in a pan and place the molded Qatayef in it. Once it turns golden in color, dip the Qatayef in Sugar Syrup till the color changes to brown. Now remove the Qatayef from the syrup, and let it cool down on the side.
Stuff the Qatayef with the prepared filling, and garnish it with pistachios before serving!
