Tunisian orange cake

  • 300 grams orange juice
  • Orange zest
  • 300 grams of cake flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 150 gm melted butter
  • 4 egg whites
  • 4 egg yolks
  • Pinch of vanilla
For preparation:
  • A bit of oil
  • A bit of flour
To prepare the glaze:
  • 150 grams of powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons orange juice


  • Put the egg whites in a bowl and whisk with an electric whisk until it becomes white in color and has a rich texture
  • In another bowl, put the egg yolk with vanilla and sugar and whisk until the yolk becomes slightly lighter and the sugar melts. Add orange juice, butter, orange zest and stir with a non-electric whisk
  • In a third bowl, add the flour with the baking powder and mix it well
  • We put the flour and baking powder mixture on the egg yolk mixture and beat until mixed well
  • Put the egg white gradually, stirring in one direction quietly, so as not to lose air inside the mixture
  • Grease the oven tray with oil and flour, then put the mixture and enter the oven at a temperature of 180 degrees for a period of 35 - 40 minutes
  • Mix the glaze ingredients
  • Put the glaze on the cake when it cools down a bit and serve!
