Meet The Orangutans

The orangutans at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo are trained to learn what their mothers would have taught them in the wild.

Orphaned orangutan Peanut is one of the newest and youngest arrivals at the sanctuary. He has made friends with Beryl, but he is feeling unwell.

Gelison arrived at Sepilok at just one year old, and was traumatised from losing his mother. While settling in better, his skiving antics and bully-boy tactics are pushing limits.

It's feeding time for the residents of Sepilok, and the orangutans are well cared for. However, they need to learn to find food themselves, and this can be tricky.

Chiquita was only two months old when she arrived at Sepilok sanctuary. Now three years old, her surrogate attachment to one of the staff is causing developmental issues.

There's a baby boom at the sanctuary as new arrivals mix with news of more on the way. The dominant male known as C.I.D is thought to be father of all offspring, but perhaps not?

One orphan is new on the scene, and needs another, more experienced one to help them bed in. The babies are at high risk from parasites ingested from the ground.

The orphans are learning how to make important relationships. Mui Mui and Anne have become inseparable, but now Anne is pregnant, and she needs to be separated.
