Nigella shares the rhythms and rituals of her kitchen and reveals the inspiration behind many of her recipes.
S1 E1: Episode 1
Nigella adds a very British ingredient to her version of the bhorta. She also makes a warm, spicy and aromatic dish of lamb shanks with wide noodles, a rich and gooey chocolate tahini pudding and a warming curry with a surprise ingredient.
S1 E2: Episode 2
Nigella bakes a fluffy, white, no-knead bread, which she uses to sandwich her crispy fried chicken, accompanied by pickles and kimchi. She also takes the fear out of making fish stew and makes a daring cherry flambe.
S1 E3: Episode 3
Nigella makes a layered chocolate and peanut butter cake, a colourful rainbow dish of vegetables and spiced bulgur wheat, suitable for vegans, vegetarians and anyone who wants a tasty dish with minimal effort.
S1 E4: Episode 4
Nigella champions the anchovy, using it to create an elixir to accompany seared steak or crisp, red chicory. She also shakes up a lemon blossom cocktail and creates a pasta dish of spaghetti with colourful chard and chilli.
S1 E5: Episode 5
Nigella's grandmother's recipe for creme caramel inspires a simple but elegant dessert of caramel custard. She also makes a pasta dish with a spicy sauce and brown butter colcannon with black pudding meatballs in tomato sauce.
S1 E6: Episode 6
Nigella makes crab macaroni and cheese, her "mine all mine chocolate cookies", a comforting one pot dish chicken with orzo and is inspired by the Italian torta di riso and the very British rice pudding to make a rice pudding cake.
S1 E7: Episode 7
Nigella indulges in a little kitchen-table tourism with food from near and far, including Linzer cookies, pomegranate cocktails, smoked salmon on black bread and Norwegian pork ribs.
