The khan of Silk

In Aleppo, Said the accountant passes away and everyone mourns him at his funeral. President Gamal Abdel Nasser announces the nationalization of the Suez Canal. And to Souad's surprise, Said's widow, Abu Adel asks for her hand in marriage.

While sitting in the coffee shop, Abu Naim passes away. Meanwhile, Mohsen's father tries to force him to marry Zakia, Murad decides to return from Italy to open a textile factory, and Kamal tries to sell the silk in his shop.

Murad considers selling the land to his uncle for a million pounds, whereas Abu Naim's children refuse to sell Kamal any silk. In the streets however, Protestors demand unity between Egypt and Syria, and Mohsen succumbs to his father's orders and marries Zakia.

Abu Mahmoud proposes to Souad, which angers Abu Adel and Um Mahmoud upon hearing the news. However, she refuses to remarry after her husband's death. Meanwhile, Murad does his best to find himself a new partner, as he embarks upon a new business journey.

As everyone prepares for Mohsen and Zakia's wedding, the groom grows upset upon laying eyes on his bride, for he did not see her prior to the wedding. And after a long hunt, Murad finds a partner but imposes unfair terms and conditions.

Murad eventually decides to work with Abu Naim's sons, and as Mohsen goes to visit Fedda after running away from home, he ends up proposing to her, and they get married.

Proposals keep pouring in as Kamal asks for Souad's hand in marriage, only to be rejected time after time. Mohsen's family however, is surprised by his disappearance, whereas his wife informs him that she still wants to keep singing even after having gotten married.

As Ahmed stands up to his parents for trying to marry Souad off against her will, the Tripartite Aggression occurs, and Ahmed volunteers to fight alongside the Egyptians. Fadda, on the other hand, goes against Mohsen's will and goes back to singing.

The situation begins to worsen on many levels; the war causes a severe recession in the textile market, Kamal ends up buying the polyester thread at the price imposed by Murad, and Souad is forced to agree to marry Kamal against her will.

Enraged, Kamal's wife Motiaa, pays Souad and her mother a visit after hearing of the news. Meanwhile, Fedda is pregnant, Mohsen falls terribly ill, Ahmed learns of Souad's decision and gets angry, upon his return from battle, and Kamal gets arrested.

Fedda and Mohsen continue to quarrel as she returns to singing to save his life while he refuses the idea and is angered by it. In the meantime, Zakia thinks of a way to win Mohsen back, and with Ahmad's help, she looks for him, only to find him in a terrible state.

Change begins to happen in everyone's life; Mohsen recovers from tuberculosis, Zakia goes back to her parents' house, Kamal is questioned about the events of the Aleppo banquet that the merchants attended, and Souad finds herself falling for Murad.

When Mohsen tries to win Zakia back, she insists that he must divorce Fedda. Meanwhile, the textile merchants try to find a solution in regards to both Kamal's problem and the unsold textiles, and Abu Adel asks Murad to help him propose to Souad.

As Abu Adel persists in trying to get Souad to marry him, Kamal grows angry upon learning the news and demands that he quits trying, but both continuously fail. In the meantime, Mohsen tries to win Zakia back, and Murad and his partners launch their business.

As Mohsen divorces Fadda to get back together with Zakia, his parents pay Fadda her delayed dowry. Murad discovers that the girl who likes him is actually Sou'ad. Kamal decides to open a company to compete with Murad's.

As Kamal and Abu Adel clash in public over Souad, she bluntly rejects them, and she confesses her feelings for Murad to her brother. Ahmed then attempts to pass on the message to Murad who then takes a decision that might anger some.

Kamal builds his own factory which angers Murad who then ends their partnership. However, one of Murad's employees decides to become a double agent. Meanwhile, Ahmad and Muhsen end up fighting, and Zakia finds herself unable to bare children.

Murad, Naim, and Moqim join forces to get back at Kamal. Meanwhile, the blind Sheikh tries to resolve Murad's issue regarding his proposal to Souad, by mentioning it to Abu Adel who ends up confronting Murad and quarreling with him.

The war worsens the people's state of living, and whilst Murad closes his factory, Kamal takes advantage of the situation and opens his, making sure that Murad is out of the market. On the other hand, Abu Adel and Murad finally reconcile, and things start looking better

Mohsen is saddened by Zakia's inability to get pregnant. As Souad and Murad get engaged, Kamal grows angry, vows get back at her father, and threatens to burn Murad's factory. On the other hand, Mohsen tries to get custody of his son, but Fodda refuses.

Mohsen tries to prevent his sister, Zeina, from meeting Ahmed who gets angry with Kamal's constant interference, and threatens to shoot him if he does stay away from his family. On the other hand, things start looking better for Souad and Murad who finally get married.

Zeina decides to flee with Ahmed and marry him, against her family's will. However, Mohsen grows hateful towards Ahmad and asks the butcher, Abu Hassan, to beat him up. As the war comes to an end, Kamal's party finally approves of the truce between Syria and Egypt.

As Zeina's family realizes that she has run away, Mohsen loses it upon learning that she married Ahmed. Meanwhile, Kamal calls all the parties for a meeting to try and reach an accord, in hopes that Egypt and Syria unite under one republic.

Mr. Kamal informs the merchants of Murad's opposition to Egypt-Syria unity, then urges Captain Tareq to watch him. Um Rabih frets over her son's political activities. Adel, son of a Khan of silk fabric merchant, fears arrest for his past communist ties.

Salam, linked to the Communist Party, covertly delivers a crucial document to Raihe. Abu Naasan falls sick after losing his seized land. Meanwhile, Um Suad visits Mutia to reconcile Murad and Kamal's disputes.

Abu Adel decides to wed his son to Safiyya, the daughter of Abu Yousef, but Adel opposes the idea. Rabih warns Murad about the danger of Mr. Kamal's threat to him, while Um Rabih prepares for her son's engagement to Sakina.

Abu Rashid decides to marry Fedda The gypsy, but she seeks help from his son, who is infatuated with her, to escape to Aleppo. Meanwhile, Abu Adel marries Safiyya, and they move into a new house, but his son cannot bear the idea.

After three days, Adel is still missing, causing his father to regret his marriage. Rabih officially commits to Sakina. As for Fedda, she manages to locate Mohsen with the help of Saber's mother.

Um Rabih seeks Sheikh Ramadan's counsel for her son. Meanwhile, Fedda devises a plan to reunite with her son Nawfal, as Muqim and Naim vie for her affection. Saber ends things with Hayatim, urged by his mother to secure a nightclub job for Fedda.

Murad, Rabih, and his friend are arrested on charges of conspiring against the Unity State. At the nightclub, the manager admires Fedda's performance and decides to name her "Hanouf Al Samra". Similarly, both Naim and Muqim decide to marry Fedda.

A resident seeks a silver-hand marriage proposal. Ahmad discovers Murad's ordeal. Mr. Kamal aims to buy Murad's factory share to prevent confiscation. Fate unites Fedda and Mohsen.

Um Murad hands her son's factory share to her daughter-in-law, whereas Murad is called in for interrogation and tortured, due to his opposing political views. Meanwhile, Ahmad endeavors to secure his release from prison and submits his discharge request from the army.

Souad contacts Captain Tareq to visit her husband but falls into his trap. Meanwhile, Fedda uses her acquaintance with the captain to aid Murad's release, then she meets Mr. Kamal, who takes an interest in her.

Hanouf succeeds in winning Mr. Kamal's affection, despite Captain Tareq's caution. And as she rises to stardom at the nightclub, she captures the spotlight. Meanwhile, Rabih's mother grieves over news of her son's demise.

At the station, Saber's mother and Souad meet with Mr. Murad and Rabih. Fedda and Saber's mother visit Zakia's often. Meanwhile, Mahmoud plans to purchase shares in the shop from Mr. Kamal and Sobhiya.

Mr. Kamal proposes a clandestine marriage to Fedda. Sheikh Ramadan demands conditions for Sakina's return to Rabih. Meanwhile, Mutia departs home following a dispute with her spouse.

Adel's father persists in his search for his son. Mr. Kamal opts to break ties with Hanouf, with Mutia enlisting Mohsen as a witness, yet his encounter with Fedda leaves a profound impact.

Salwa visits Ahmad, sparking jealousy in Zeina. Mohsen meets Fedda at the nightclub, where she shares her plan. Later, she reveals her true identity to Zakia.

Fedda attempts to abduct her son Nawfal, thwarted by Zakia. "Seedna" embarks on a romance with Hanouf, while Zubaida plans to wed Adel. Salam's health worsens in prison

Murad is freed, learning of his uncle's death. Adel discusses marrying Zubaida with the mosque's Imam. Meanwhile, Rabih's mother is hospitalized.

Rabih, saddened by news, vows to avoid politics and is freed. Mohsen and Mayada grow closer. Adel decides on marriage after a talk with the mosque's Imam.

Rabih and Sakina rekindle their emotional bond. Mr. Kamal loses his shop shares to Mahmoud. Fate also reunites him with Jamila, the bank manager's sister.

Fedda attempts to visit her son but is haklted by Zakia, Mutia's concerns about her husband's fidelity persist, and Mr. Kamal proposes to Jamila. On the other hand, the decision to seize Syrian factories shocks everyone.

Mr. Kamal and Mr. Murad reconcile post-factory loss. Fedda urges Mohsen to divorce Zakia and reunite. Meanwhile, Zakia receives significant promises from Mr. Kamal.

Fedda seeks revenge on Mohsen for disappointing her after Mr. Kamal's assurances. Meanwhile, Adel follows Sheikh Ali's counsel and plans to marry Zubaida.

Mr. Kamal seeks Fedda's aid in dire finances. Abdel Hamid Al Sarraj is politically ousted to Cairo. Salwa declines Jaber's proposal, enraging Rida.

Salwa faces a challenging predicament as her brother sets a deadline of one month for her to find a suitable spouse. Meanwhile, Mr. Kamal was involved in a traffic collision. Additionally, Fedda is pursuing a custody case for her son.

Abolishing Abdel Hamid Al Sarraj's intelligence service prompts arrests. A coup follows, leading to Syria's separation from Egypt. Meanwhile, Salwa's love life evolves as "Seedna" and Hanouf flee to Egypt.
